The farmer at the three bedroom Hillhead of Dess Farmhouse in Aberdeen was looking to replace his stored water cylinder with something more efficient.
He was specified a 300 litre THERMflow through Northern Heating, Aberdeen. This was designed to not only work with the existing oil boiler but also incorporate a solid fuel input for a Rayburn Stove with back boiler. In addition, it was future proofed with the boiler connections suitable for an electric heating boiler.
With the area being a hard water region, an external plate heat exchanger was specified.
This is a perfect example how our thermal store works at the heart of the heating and hot water system to supply the central heating system in addition to mains pressure hot water. Our thermal store approach can incorporate multiple energy sources, whether it is traditional or renewable, to heat the home as well as meet hot water demand to achieve improved efficiencies and cost savings, which was exactly what the customer was looking for.
Ross Geddes, from the Heating Design Department at Northern Heating said ‘The customer upgraded to your thermal store as he wanted a more efficient way of heating his property with the central heating, the solid fuel appliances and future electric boiler.’
