Low Loss Header

McDonald Water Storage has extensive experience and expertise in manufacturing bespoke low loss headers to suit any design or specification, thanks to our flexible manufacturing process and our highly skilled and experienced team.

A low loss header provides hydraulic separation between the boiler circuit and the heating circuit, regulating the flow rate and pressure, improving efficiency and performance.

This low loss header is particularly important in the case of modern boiler systems, which specify the optimum parameters to ensure the boiler operates at peak efficiency.

Should the velocity exceed or be lower than those specified by the boiler, performance can be compromised, resulting in irregular flow rates and water temperature, putting unnecessary strain on the system.

A low loss header can also be used to allow multiple boilers and heating circuits to function efficiently.

Provide hydraulic separation between boiler and heating circuits
  • Our low loss header is manufactured to suit your specification & requirements
  • Connection sizes from 15mm to 150mm or bespoke
  • Manufactured from premium grade copper
  • Lead time approx 3-5 days

Our low loss headers can be supplied to suit your specification and system requirements.  They typically feature a drain connection to allow any sludge or debris to be easily removed from the system, as well as connection sizes from 15mm to 150mm – or as you require.

Our low loss headers are generally manufactured from premium grade copper to provide maximum durability and performance.  We can also manufacture from mild steel depending on system requirements.

Pumps

You will need to consider whether the boiler already has an integral pump. If not, it is likely that additional pumps will be required subject to the resistance flow rate of the boiler. You will also need to consider

Boilers

You will need to consider the number of boilers installed on the primary circuit and the allowed minimum flow rates and circuit temperature differentials.

System

What systems do you have installed on the secondary circuits, e.g., underfloor heating which is normally at a low temperature setting or radiators which are at a higher setting.

Lead Time

Whilst each of our Low Loss Headers are manufactured to order, our typical lead time is approximately 3-5 days from sign off of all drawings.

Please contact our technical sales team on 01592 611123 with your design requirements and to discuss the low loss header options available and we will provide you with a price and delivery.

Our focus is very much on the manufacture of copper hot water cylinders and tanks. Copper provides fantastic benefits including;

  • Ability to kill 99% of bacteria including Ecoli and legionella
  • One of the most efficient conductors of heat
  • Significantly more flexible for manufacturing than other materials
  • Long lifespan due to its amazing resistance to corrosion
  • 100% recyclable
