A homeowner recently got in touch with us when in the early stages of renovating their 5-bedroom family home in Kinross.
He was looking for advice on how best to increase the hot water capacity in the property whilst retaining the existing combination of an lpg gas boiler and open fire back boiler for the rest of its service life. In addition, they also planned to install solar panels later on in the spring and wanted to utilise the excess electricity to contribute to the heating of the hot water tank.
Initially the homeowner requested that he wanted to upgrade from an existing vented system to an unvented tank to ensure he had ample hot water for his growing family and was looking for an investment into reducing future running costs.
Based on these specific requirements, rather than reverting to the unvented option we suggested the bespoke solution of a 250 litre THERMflow Multi Fuel Thermal Store, which would be designed to suit the specific installation requirements. The cylinder incorporated a sealed boiler coil and open vented connections for the solid fuel inputs, ideally suited for thermal stores, with the open vented heating system fed directly from the store.
With the ability to deliver both heating and mains pressure hot water, the THERMflow is one of the most efficient systems when looking to utilise multiple heat sources and become the central point of the heating and hot water system.
Working to the customers required delivery date, we manufactured the bespoke unit and delivered it to the property ready for installation.
The homeowner is now able to utilise multiple heat sources and have peace of mind knowing that there is enough energy to provide adequate amounts of heating and hot water for his family of three, soon to become four. We wish them all the best with the renovation and the new addition to the family!
A thermal store is one of the most popular types of hot water storage solutions, especially where multiple heat sources are being used. THERMflow provides the ability to incorporate multiple heat sources, in turn heating the home as well as meeting the hot water requirements.
