McDonald Water Storage has secured the order to design, manufacture and supply copper calorifiers for a portfolio of boutique hotels in Scotland, after the contractor was delighted with the superior quality and customer service provided for a previous order to Kingshouse Hotel in Glencoe.
The boutique hotels have been bought by an Indian multi-millionaire who fell in love with the Scottish countryside and was inspired to create a chain of hotels in Scotland which exceeded all expectations when it came to quality and customer service.
As part of the refurbishment works, the client insisted on a high-quality specification throughout the properties to ensure they set the right standard of quality and reliability.
To optimise the system, reduce materials costs and simplify the ongoing facilities management, McDonald Water Storage designed each of the 600 litre calorifiers to the same specification and connection layout.
While the calorifiers are all heated indirectly from a new boiler plant, each system features 12kW of backup immersions capable of 3 hour reheat time together with a destratification pump to circulate the water in the cylinder and an inspection manhole for maintenance.

The 12kw immersion heaters also ensure the hotels have hot water even if the boiler is offline. ”
