PLATEflow provided the perfect solution when Caol Primary School were looking for an urgent hot water solution.
BACKGROUND
The Primary Schools’ existing calorifer was leaking after being incorrectly installed and after a discussion with EMAC Energy Ltd, part of EMAC Engineering, it was also discovered that it was also massively oversized at 3000 Litres!
SOLUTION
After gathering further information on usage, types and flow rates of outlets, a 1000 Litre Copper PLATEflow was specified as it was the perfect fit for their requirements.
The PLATEflow is part of our commercial water heater range and is designed to supply hot water in situations where demand can vary over the course of a day, making it the perfect solution for the Primary School. The PLATEflow system comprises a brazed plate heat exchanger, prepiped and mounted on a buffer vessel. The PLATEflow system effectively decreases the amount of stored hot water required, whilst still delivering peak flow rates as demanded.
The copper cylinder had a shell max 
working pressure of 3 bar and comprised of a 100kW Brazed Plate Heat Exchanger, to allow for a constant flow rate of 0.43litres/sec, charging pump & associated pipework and valves, with 2no. 100mm temperature and 1no. pressures gauges, DN25 Anti Vacuum valve. The store was also fitted with 3no. 6kW WR Type immersion heaters, with inspection manhole for easy access for maintenance. The cylinder was insulated with 80mm of rockwool and finished with a galvanised cladding.
