The PLATEflow systems were recently specified to meet the hot water requirements for Taymouth Castle in Kenmore as part of a major restoration project.
Three 500 litre PLATEflow cylinders were supplied to provide the hot water to the castles main tower and west wing. All three measuring 2150mm x 720mm incorporated a 50kW plate heat exchanger which would provide a constant flow rate of 12 litres per minute in addition to the 500 litres of stored hot water. The insulation and galvanised casing was supplied separately, making the installation process easier due to the tight access points.
Taymouth Castle stands on the site of the much older Balloch Castle, which was built in 1552, as the seat of the Campbell clan. In the early 19th century, Balloch Castle was demolished by the Campbells of Breadalbane, so that the new, much larger castle could be rebuilt on the site. This new castle is currently undergoing a major restoration project incorporating the castle and golf course, building 167 new homes, and landscaping park and woodlands.
It is fantastic to be involved in such a prestigious development – what an amazing building.
