The brand new athletics facility, Craigie Sports Arena in Ayr were in the market for a hot water storage solution, the McDonald Water Storage PLATEflow Calorifiers were a hop, skip and a jump ahead of the competition.
We provided them with two 1200L PLATEflow PHE Calorifiers after MHSL Services, based in Paisley, won the contract who delivered the installation to an extremely high standard. The PLATEflow is part of our commercial hot water storage range and is designed to supply hot water in situations where demand can vary over the course of a day, the system effectively decreases the amount of stored hot water required whilst still delivering peak flow rates as demanded, which was a perfect solution for the soon to be busy athletics centre.
With the PLATEflow unvented cylinders being a non-standard unit, McDonald Water Storage were the cylinder manufacturer of choice, with the skills to produce the cylinders, 2200mm x 1020mm, tailored to their specific installation requirements. Each cylinder comprised of a 41kW brazed plate heat exchanger which is pre-piped and mounted on the calorifier, and incorporated two temperature gauges, pressure gauge, charging pump, flow regulator and a 500L expansion vessel.
The £8.5million Council project which is set to be completed in October 2023, will feature some of the best sporting facilities around. Including an eight lane 400m running track; six lane 60m indoor running track and a field events area. It will also exhibit a 3G all-weather pitch, complete with fully accessible changing areas and a café.
