Motherwell Football Club knew where to turn when they required a hot water cylinder, with part of their Stadium at Fir Park having no hot water and with an upcoming weekend match, required a particularly quick turnaround. With this in mind, our team at McDonald Water Storage worked tirelessly and pulled out all the stops to manufacture the 300 litre Vented Direct Grade 3 Cylinder in record time, and were able to meet the tight deadline … something not achievable elsewhere.
One of the major benefits of manufacturing cylinders in copper is the ability to bespoke manufacture units to customers specific requirements. This cylinder was bespoke designed to meet the volume requirements but within the space available, and comprised of 1” hot water draw off, 2¼” immersion heater bosses, two 1” cold feeds and two 1” secondary returns, to meet the clubs hot water requirements. The unit was then finished with spray foam insulation to provide heat retention for the cylinder contents.
Working in conjunction with the installer, we were able to design and manufacture the 1800mm x 500mm cylinder, and have it delivered to the stadium within the short timescale given – no extra time or penalties required!
Motherwell F.C. was formed in 1886. It played at sites on Roman Road and Dalziel Park until 1895, when Fir Park was opened. The ground was laid out in a wooded area belonging to Lord Hamilton of Dalzell, whose racing colours were claret and amber. Motherwell then adopted these colours themselves.
