PLATEflow provides the perfect solution for popular Glasgow University.
University of Strathclyde were upgrading the hot water storage systems in their student accommodation facilities and we were approached by Vital Energi to specify them. After some discussions about their requirements, we advised that the PLATEflow would be the ideal product for them and they proceeded to order five units to replace their existing gas fired calorifiers across three separate accommodation blocks on the campus.
The PLATEflow range is part of our commercial water heater range and is specifically designed to supply hot water in situations where demand is high over the course of a day! Making it a perfect fit to suit the lifestyles of the busy students who are typically on the go all ho
urs of the day!
Strathclyde University wanted to rework the cold-water supply pipework into the PHEx return pipework, so required a connection in the return pipework to suit. Our normal configuration is to have the cold feed where you have the secondary return and would normally draw to the plate from the combined drain/PHE connection from the base of the cylinder. But as requested we configured the pipework as per their request to better suit their requirements.
PLATEflow significantly reduces installation and commissioning time. It can be supplied as either a vented, tank fed unit, or suitable for unvented applications when fed from the mains or a boosted cold water supply.
The commercial units were each 200 Litre in capacity and manufactured in Copper. They comprised of a 100Kw brazed PHE, charging pump, flow regulator and connecting pipework, 28mm pressure reducing valve set at 3 bar, DN20 safety valve at 4.5 bar, DN25 PTRV, 2no 100mm temperature & 1no pressure gauge, DN25 anti-vacuum valve, 2nno 3kw 1 phase immersion heater, 33 litre nitrogen filled expansion vessel, inspection manhole and insulation jacket all finished off with 80mm of insulation.
